The Washoe County School District is trying to curb their numbers on substance abuse in high schools. Monday–they wanted parents' input adhering the idea of stray put drugs into testing students in competitive activities that could go district wide.

“Originally-I was a tiny concerned. That's why I'm here tonight–to find out in greater numbers information about it,” Kathy Price, a parent says. Price now changed her mind after learning more about random drug testing and the safe and drug free school program. Her son attends Galena. “I felt abundant more comfortable now with which I've been told and how they do they drug testing and what other kids at the other school who had the pilot program,” she adds.

The pilot program is at McQueen High School. The football players there are in the early stages of the program. District officials say the proemial results at McQueen are amazing.

“They had reported their use had been delayed, pendent, and prevented because of the stray student drug testing program,” Louden says. Brenden Price is a student athlete. He says a program preference this is needed at Galena.

“I don't like drugs at aggregate. Most of the kids at school they bug me about it,” Price says.

The program would be federally funded. But the district is testing the waters to give attention to if parents are interested before applying for the funding. Students not in prompted by emulation activities would not be randomly tried. But–the program still offers an extra set of eyes for entirely parents.

“My child is not into sports or competitive activities. But–I want them to have this peer pressure, refusal pitch line,” Louden adds about parents voluntarily subjecting their student to the testing. That would help parents who have students in or out of competitive activities.

“It's very difficult to do on your own at family circle,” Kathey Price says.
