Gimme a break, this is the stupidest column written about this whole debaucle.

Julie and her boyfriend Craigenstein deal steroids at my gym... the only thing she's innocent of is winning a title without cheating.

Piece of garbage!

Here are the facts relative to random drug testing. All are peer reviewed and can be referenced. Please review them and then at least make an informed decision.

1. It takes an average of 3.5 years to determine their child is abusing a substance.
2. Parenting skills have little to do with whether or not a child abuses drugs due to the overwhelming peer pressures upon today's children. While parenting skills can provide support and some mitigation they WILL NOT be 100% effective.
3. Any substance abuse prevention will agree that deterrence and detection are critical aspects of effective substance abuse management.
4. Substance abuse professionals will also agree that it is exceptionally rare for an abuser to come forward on their own and that detection and associated intervention and support are required.
5. The cost of NOT drug testing far exceeds that of drug testing. Over $160B is lost each year due to substance misuse, and over 20,000 lives lost due to drugs.
6. Prescription drug abuse is the problem today to be concerned with, vs. marijuana.
These drugs are habit forming and deadly.
7. Numerous case studies have proven the effectiveness of random drug testing relative to mitigating substance misuse... however... testing must be done via observed specimen collection (typically only feasible with oral fluid), and in concert with education and treatment.
